JBL's EON618S 18-inch subwoofer certainly won't go unnoticed at a party. The active subwoofer has a maximum SPL of 134 dB and produces tone frequencies between 42.5 Hz and 150 Hz. In other words, a heavy dose of base. The 18-inch speaker was designed to produce as much sound as possible, yet still be portable. At 35.5 kg, it can be lifted using the two handles on the sides. There is space to insert a pole mount so that you can attach other speakers.

The JBL EON618S: To Stand-Alone or Not to Stand-Alone

The JBL EON618S has a class-D amplifier that produces no less than a whopping 1000 Watts. The crossover frequency can be adjusted to your own taste: 80, 100 or 120 Hz or EON's own frequency. When the subwoofer is connected to other speakers from EON's 600 series, the latter frequency ensures a full complementary sound is produced. Connections can be made using two balanced XLR inputs and two XLR loop thru outs. On the rear panel you will find the on/off button, a polarity button, a volume knob and a button to switch the LED on the front of the 618S on or off.

Wireless Controls

Best of all, this subwoofer can be controlled using Bluetooth. On the back are an LED light and two buttons that allow you to set the EON618S to be controlled wirelessly. JBL even has an app, EON Connect, that lets you control settings. With the app you can adjust things like the EQ, delay and the total output mix right from your tablet or smartphone. Once you've got the EQ settings you like, you won't need to set them up again. A press of the EQ+ button will ensure that you always have the same settings.
