Descrizione

Omnitronic recently launched their own series of compact MIDI controllers, including the FAD-9 MIDI fader controller. The FAD-9 features several rotary encoders, faders, and push buttons every producer, DJ or light specialist will enjoy. Furthermore, it is compatible with any audio software, as long as it supports MIDI. Simply connect the controller to your PC via USB, and you're good to go!

Characteristics of the FAD-9 controller

The FAD-9 features several controls in different shapes and sizes, that are freely assignable through your favourite software programmes. This USB MIDI fader controller features nine channels, each equipped with a fader, push button and rotary encoder. Of course, you can always switch these around and assign them yourself. The different banks allow you to create multiple layers, and enables you to jump from page A to B, to operate no less than 36 channels.

Transport controls of the FAD-9

The controls and overall design indicate that this device was actually made for producing software. The white strip contains several transport controls for rewinding, playing back, pausing or fast-forwarding an audio track. Omnitronic also added a bit of DJ functionality into the mix with the built-in crossfader.

Omnitronic FAD-9 controller fader USB MIDI

Prima ding.

Omnitronic FAD-9 controller fader USB MIDI

Super compact controller, has 4 banks that can all be assigned to different midi channels if needed. Great functionality, just not really rugged for heavy use, perfect for light use in the studio and a few gigs though. Using it in Ableton , editor is super simple to use and figure out also. The provided CD is a mini one so wasn't able to use disk drive on MacBook but had an external one knocking around so used that instead. All in all very happy with the product as it's simplified and expanded my productivity and is such a small form factor. Would recommend

Omnitronic FAD-9 controller fader USB MIDI

Omnitronic FAD-9 controller fader USB MIDI

Plus:

-klein en compact

-gebruiksvriendelijk

-veel mogelijkheden door middel van banks (4)

Min:

-hoofdknop voelt erg goedkoop

Omnitronic FAD-9 controller fader USB MIDI

I bought the Omnitronic controller because of the 9 faders and the multiple banks (similar to the Icon I-controls, with which I had a great experience), but I spent several hours trying to make it work, and couldn´t get the correct drivers installed.

among many other sites and forums, I also went through the instructions at electro-music.com/, I downloaded several times the 2 versions of the drivers present at http://media.steinigke.de/ but both of them gave corrupt file errors. there was no way for me to make it work in my computer (Windows 8.1, 64bit).

in the end I brought it back and I bought a Korg NanoKontrol2, which I didn´t want to buy originally, but was the only option and I needed it urgently for a gig.

also: the omnitronic felt very bulky and big, though not particularly sturdy (the Icon I-controls is heavy and big, but it also feels very sturdy, I travelled with it for years and it can really take it).

for what I want, the Korg NanoKontrol2 is much more limited (no multiple banks, so I only have the 8 faders and 8 knobs) but the construction quality seems really good, and it worked immediately without any driver hassle. I use the controllers to have a manual input when running light shows from my computer.

Omnitronic FAD-9 controller fader USB MIDI

Omnitronic FAD-9 controller fader USB MIDI

Omnitronic FAD-9 controller fader USB MIDI
