We were as baffled as anyone when Line 6 announced a full-fledged PA system, but we were delighted to find out they took it so seriously! Line 6's L3 series is a set of speakers that collaborate optimally as they can mutually communicate over the L6 LINK protocol. What's more, these speakers have built-in sensors that detect whether the speaker is placed horizontally or vertically. The L3S (shown here) is the system's active subwoofer and can be used in many different setups. The sub contains two 12-inch woofers encased in a bass reflex body.

The L3S' Smart Speaker system

All L3-series speakers feature Line 6's Smart Speaker system, which consists of pre-configured settings for several different applications. It has a setting that is made for PA use, but also one for DJs, for instance, both resulting in different sounds from the L3S. In DJ mode, the L3s is able of producing deep bass sounds while the PA setting has a bass tone that is as tight as possible. Additionally, you can tune all your Line 6 speakers to the setting of this subwoofer via the L6 LINK system.

The Sub's components and amplification

This subwoofer features two powerful 12-inch woofers, both with a 3-inch coil, encased by a bass reflex body that can be used both vertically and horizontally. With an overall weight of just 37.5 kg this is a relatively lightweight subwoofer. However, to ensure the utmost ease-of-use it is fitted with rattle-free wheels so you can comfortably cart it along. The lightweight body is also home to a bi-amp amplifier module which produces 622 Watts, more than enough to allow the woofers to produce even the deepest basses without distortion. An extensive DSP processor continuously monitors the incoming signal and ensures the settings are what you want them to be. Add L3M or L3T to create your perfect speaker stack.
