Meinl does their best to cater to even the most experimental and adventurous drummers. The exciting Generation X series has become well-known all over the world for its innovative and unique sounding cymbals. A great example is the GX-14FCH-J: a 14-inch china with 'filters' (round holes punched through it) and three jingles. It was designed in collaboration with top drummer Thomas Lang, made of Meinl's complex FX9 alloy and manufactured and shaped through a high-tech computerised process.
Meinl Generation X GX-14FCH-J
The combination of its unique alloy, filters and three jingles, resulted in a china cymbal with a rich palette of sounds. If you carefully dose your dynamics, the GX-14FCH-J will offer a wide range of possibilities. Play it softly, and it gives you a subtle china sound. Play it loudly, however, then the jingles rise in prominence, and when you really lay into it, its brash, trashy sound will cut through any mix. All in all, it's a highly recognisable effects cymbal that is excellently suited for rhythmic playing and many musical fills.
