Many music producers use an analogue summing mixer to mix multiple line signals. During the process, the line signals pass through the mixer (and perhaps tubes) giving them a warmer sound. This is exactly what Radial's Space Heater 8-channel summing mixer with tubes does. It's a high-end 1U rack module that has eight mono inputs divided into four stereo configurations. Each channel has its own 12AX7 tube, the voltage of which can be adjusted per stereo channel for lo, mid or hi-fi sounds. There's also a high-pass filter per channel to eliminate low resonance and noise.
Space heater: connection possibilities
On the back of the Space Heater, there are a number of connections including eight line inputs, XLR outputs and D-Sub inputs and outputs. There are sixteen jack connectors to send and return signals for each of the eight channels and the sends can work alongside the D-Sub. In the master section on the front panel, there's a headphone output (with adjustable volume) and a general mix level control as well as a button that enables you to switch between the XLR and TRS jack outputs. The Space Heater has a robust metal housing that gives it a professional look to match its sound capabilities.
