Shrugging off tradition, the Contemporary Stratocaster Special adds a little nouveau cuisine to the Squier menu, serving up a tasty, off-kilter pickup configuration blended with ultra-modern switching, all coated in a slick paint-job with a black headstock. Three slanted Squier SQR Alnico single-coils come mounted, but the mid-pickup has been shifted down to nestle next to the bridge pickup, building a thick, humbucker style foundation sound when they're placed in series in position 1. Flip the selector switch into position 3 to place the middle and neck pickups in parallel, then shift up to position 4 and unleash the force of all three pickups at once.

The Contemporary Stratocaster Special: High Playability

The good people of Squier have gifted this unique model with a roasted maple neck, which doesn't just look great, but ensures enhanced stability. The modern C-profile has been coated in a butter-smooth layer of satin-gloss for a fast and gliding playing feel, while in a further departure from the standard Strat-style, the Contemporary has a flatter 12 inch fretboard radius which couples with a set of twenty two jumbo frets to supply superior comfort. Meanwhile, a tried-and-tested two-point synchronised tremolo bridge with block saddles has been mounted for classic and expressive, whammy-bar triggered vibrato effects.
