Descrizione

The Meinl Tan1428AB-M Tan Tan is an instrument that can be used for samba music. It is usually encountered in pagoda music, a movement within samba that is widely played in northeastern Brazil. Meinl's Tan Tan is made of poplar wood, making it quite light to carry. The drum is 28 inches deep and has a diameter of 14 inches. A special NAPA skin by Meinl, consisting of two layers, has been used for the skin, which provides a swelling deep sound.

TAN1428AB-M: deep sounds

A tan tan (or tan tam) is used in samba music as a bass instrument. In terms of sound, it is slightly higher than a surdo, but because the rhythms are mostly the same, the tan tan just gives a fuller sound when played along. The playing technique is the same as that of the surdo, playing the sheet with one hand and giving sharper setbacks on the kettle with the other. The tan tankan can be played sitting down, on your lap, but is also equipped with sturdy carrying hooks. An extraordinary instrument that is sure to be an addition to any samba group.
