The prominent flag decal clearly shows where the Meinl SUC16 surdo comes from - Brazil! It's the country of samba and all the rhythms that suit the surdo so well. This drum provides the heartbeat of a percussion piece and is played with sticks. A samba band usually has three different types of surdos with different sizes. The 16-inch surdo is considered a small model - or contrador - and logically provides a higher pitch than the larger surdos.
Meinl SUC16 16-inch Classic Series Surdo Drum: traditional
Traditional straight rims and a shell without flanges give this surdo an authentic Brazilian look. As the shell is made of aluminium, it's quite lightweight, making it easy to carry during samba parades and such. Furthermore, the drumheads feature the Meinl logo, and they're very easy to tune with the included tuning key.
