You need to consider this product in the right context - it is a PORTABLE speaker and this point cannot be overstated. It will not be as big and bold a static unit, or should look to replace one, however, the clarity of the sound is exceptional. Visually, it is also stunning.
The way the unit prevents distortion at high levels, by reducing bass output, is clever, but makes it a little underwhelming at higher volume output. At these levels, which are very loud for a small unit, can sound too tinny and a little uncomfortable for the ears.
The best range in my view is mid level where the bass is more noticeable (probably still a little less than you'd want) and the general clarity is at its best.
I have not heard other comparable models, i.e., Bose Soundlink and B&O A2, but I would recommend you listen to this in the flesh before purchasing. Remember, do not try and compare to a fixed unit, as you will be disappointed. If you want the flexibility to move it easily from room to room, or have outside for a small garden party, it is ideal. Life span of the battery is also remarkable.
In terms of space filling, it will be easily loud enough for a medium size room.
