The Roland JD-Xi analogue/digital crossover synthesizer in white is a device for real synth fans. There is a limited number of the white version of these previously released synths available, so if you want to own one, you'll need to strike while the iron's hot! White is a colour that is not often used by Roland, which makes this edition even more exclusive. It's a true live synthesizer with a variety of controls and a format that suits any kind of transport. Most smaller-sized synthesizers are mono-synths, or have a limited polyphony. Not the case for the JD-Xi, with an impressive polyphony of 129 voices!

The sound of the JD-Xi

129 is an unusual number, seeing as manufacturers tend to stick to multiples of two. It has to do with a combination of 128 digital voices (samples) and a real analogue monophonic voice. The samples are pretty straight-forward, with a variety of pianos, strings and horns, which is ideal for live applications. The JD-Xi is simply a machine that can handle anything. The effect section is very good, and invites you to make them an integral part of the sound, instead of just an addition. You can further enhance your creativity with effects like delay, reverb, flanger, and distortion, among others.

Other characteristics

The analogue section of the JD-Xi offers a choice between sawtooth, triangle or square waveforms (with adjustable pulse width). The synthesis system is simple but effective - after all, most key players don't have time to deal with hundreds of parameters during a gig. It also has an x0x-style step sequencer, as well as an arpeggiator. The synth's microphone input allows you to complement your own vocals with a bit of additional technology. With the included gooseneck mic, you can control the vocoder with your voice. Create robot voices, or use the AutoPitch and AutoNote features for even more options!
