In 2013, thirty years after the introduction of the successful Export series drum kits, Pearl gave it somewhat of an overhaul. Of course, the EXX1455S/C702 snare drum also benefits from this. Its 7.5mm-thick shell is made of 6 plies of poplar and Asian mahogany, allowing for excellent attack and high volumes. Furthermore, this 14 x 5.5" snare drum offers deep resonance, partly thanks to its redesigned lugs. These lugs are smaller than they were before, as minimal contact allows the shell to resonate freely. Finally, this particular model sports a gorgeous Blue Sparkle finish.

Unique production process

In producing this snare drum, Pearl followed its proprietary Superior Shell Technology process. It starts with selecting high-quality wood, which is precision-milled into various plies. After that, the plies are glued together using Pearl's Acoustiglue, which takes on the same consistency as the wood itself when it dries. The end result is a highly durable drum shell with optimal resonance.
