The Deluxe Memory Man, issued by the legendary manufacturer EHX, is one of the most lauded delay pedals ever. Thanks to its analogue Bucket Brigade circuits and comprehensive settings, this unparalleled pedal offers great power, warmth and versatility. EHX has managed to top that, though, with two new editions of the pedal: the even more elaborate Memory Man Tap Tempo 550-TT and 1100ms. Both pedals are the same, but each features a different maximum delay time.

The tap tempo feature of the EHX Deluxe Memory Man w/Tap 550 ms

The Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man Tap Tempo 550-TT is equipped with a practical Tap Tempo function. That means you can not only set a tempo with the delay knob, but you can also use the tap foot switch or an optional external switch (such as the Boss FS-5U) to tap out a tempo in quarter notes. If you use the Tap function, five Tap Divide subdivisions allow for rhythmic variation by an eighth note, an eighth triplet, a sixteenth note, etc.

Expression pedal and effects loop

Connect an optional expression pedal to the EHX Deluxe Memory Man Tap Tempo 550-TT and you're able to control various effect parameters live on stage. Adjust the intensity of the delay effect with the feedback knob, and the modulation with the rate and depth knobs, for vibrato and chorus effects. You can also apply an external effect, such as an octaver, to the signal without affecting the original sound. Your delay will be taken up an octave, while the dry sound retains its normal pitch.
