After three decades of building drum kits with birch, Tama decided to use this type of wood in a new way. By combining it with bubinga, they have kept the birch's punchy character and added a new, warm layer to it. This five-piece shell set consists of a 22 x 20-inch virgin bass drum, 10 x 6.5 and 12 x 7-inch toms, and 14 x 12 and 16 x 14 floor toms. It's a very complete and versatile shell set with a gorgeous tri-tone Tri-Burst Tobacco finish.

The tom and floor tom shells are 6 mm thick, while the bass drum shell is 8 mm thick. That is because the tom and floor tom shells are made of three inner plies of bubinga, surrounded by four plies of birch, and the bass drum receives an additional outer ply of birch. Furthermore, Tama's well-known StarCast tom mounting system allows the toms to resonate freely as it suspends them from their hoops, making no contact with the shell. The floor toms also have a rich, rounded sound thanks to the special Air Cushioned legs, featuring air chambers that prevent the vibrations from disappearing into the ground. And as the virgin bass drum - that has no holes drilled into it - can also resonate freely, it a sound that is just as rich.
Hardware
The bass drum hoops are made of wood and come in the same beautiful finish as the shells, and they're held in place by Tama's special claw hooks. Meanwhile, the toms and floor toms feature die-cast hoops that have no structural weak points, keeping the tension on the Evans drumheads consistent for a long, long time. You can mount the toms on the special (included) MC69 clamps that will fit on any regular stand. Both toms and floor toms are equipped with the Quick-Lock tom brackets, that make setting up and tearing down your kit a fast and efficient process. Finally, all hardware on the shells features the same chrome-plated finish.
