This is a 5-piece shell set from Tama's Starclassic Maple series - a line of drums that confidently shows off the company's forty years of experience. The use of thin maple shells in combination with modern shell hardware gives this versatile drum kit a warm and open sound. It consists of a 22 x 18-inch virgin bass drum, 10 x 8 and 12 x 9-inch toms, and 14 x 12 and 16 x 14-inch floor toms that offer a warm, rich sound. With its Galaxy Chameleon Sparkle finish and chrome-plated hardware, it has a remarkably stylish look.
Optimal sound
In their search for a great tone, Tama used several plies of maple to create these drum shells. The plies are purposefully kept extra thin, which gives the maple's warm sound an added openness. Furthermore, the StarCast tom mounting system - which suspends the drums by their hoops, minimising contact with the shell - allows the shells to resonate freely. The floor toms, meanwhile, feature air cushioned legs, with special air chambers that prevent the vibrations from disappearing into the ground.
Functional hardware
Both the toms and the floor toms are fitted with Tama's Quick-Lock system. This system allows you to set up your shells just right in a matter of moments. Special rubber Hold Tight washers prevent the tension rods, that hold the hoops, from coming loose. These hoops are made of die-cast zinc, meaning they have no structural weak spots and distribute the tension evenly across the drumheads. The wooden bass drum hoops have a finish that matches the rest of the shells, and are kept in place by rubber-lined claw hooks.

- A 'virgin' bass drum is a bass drum without tom mounts, which means the toms need to be mounted on a stand or separate tom holder. This set-up allows for more room for your cymbals and allows you to position them a little lower.
