This very rare Factory Special Run (FSR) edition of the Fender American Vintage '72 Telecaster Thinline combines classic styling and sound with a modern feel. It is equipped with all the authentic features from the 'regular' '72 Telecaster Thinline of the American Vintage series. Two chrome Wide Range humbucker pickups with Fender logo, a marvellous ash body and small details like the 'bullet' truss rod nut and three-point neck mounting. This FSR version has a special, glorious 3-tone Sunburst finish and '6105' narrow jumbo frets as well as a relatively flat 9.5-inch fretboard radius for more playing comfort.

Characteristics of the FSR American Vintage '72 Telecaster Thinline

Distinctive features of the '72 Telecaster Thinline are its semi-hollow body and f-shaped sound hole. These give this guitar its characteristic open sound with rounded trebles, rich mids and smooth basses. The semi-hollow body also conveniently reduces the Tele's weight. According to vintage specs, its neck has been made of one-piece maple. The taller frets and modern fretboard radius allow for a low string action without buzzing or other annoying sounds. They also make bending a lot easier. Of course, the FSR American Vintage '72 Tele Thinline still features those coveted vintage-accurate details, including '70s-style F tuners, white pearloid pickguard, top-hat pickup switch tip and the right type logo on its headstock. This Tele offers the best of both worlds!

Fender Wide Range humbuckers: original seventies tone

Fender have redesigned and revoiced its Wide Range humbucker pickups, after the sound of the original, especially for the FSR American Vintage '72 Telecaster Thinline. These two pickups produce a wide, rich, clean sound that is along the lines of that of single-coils, but with the warmth and output of humbuckers. This makes them excellently suited for virtually any type of music, from country, jazz and blues to modern rock and metal. The guitar's three-position pickup switch allows you to choose between the clear sound of the bridge pickup, the dark sound of the neck pickup or a combination of both. Lastly, you are provided with a master volume control and a tone knob to filter the high frequencies.
