RAW Vintage RV-5760 Black Non-Aged humbucker (manico)
If you are looking for a sound of original open PAF pickup, well you have found it.
All of the series are scatter wound non potted period correct replicas of PAF. Maple spacers, braided coax wire, Alnico II, Silver nickel base and cover if your model has one. All correct ingredients of a PAF humbucker.
Now it all means nothing if it is not sounding good right?
Well they do sound awesome.
Open models lose bit of the vintage sound profile of a LP but they gain on openness and clarity.
Some artists started to experiment with taking cover off their PAR pickups in 70's. With this one, that is a sound that you will get.
With all models of RAW Vintage neck variants are most similar. There is only one version of spacing between the pole peaces and one resistance value.
Bridge models have two spacing variants and two resistance values and versions with cover and without cover plus aged and non aged.
.
All neck models measure +- 7.5K Ohm. All neck models measure bit different though. Plus minus 0.1K difference. Like in good old times. It gives each one little bit of it's own character but still staying in same ball park.
This pickups have no mud and can clear up muddy sounding LP. They are sounding good both clean and with overdrive. They really show a character of your guitar.
They sound great on both mahogany only or maple mahogany body guitars.
Actually they are pretty transparent regarding to wood type and show character of the wood used pretty good.
I would not use any of them for high gain and extreme high volumes due to their construction. On other side anything from Jazz to hard rock and early metal will be covered with PAF pickups anyways.
Two thumbs up from me.
