The SE Electronics X1 D is a special kick drum condenser microphone with a handmade, Titanium-sputtered capsule. This capsule is a lot stiffer than a gold-sputtered capsule, so that the quick transients and attack of drums and percussion are optimally registered. The hammer action of a piano or slapping of a bass guitar can also be registered with the SE Electronics X1 D. This large-diaphragm condenser microphone is a part of the X1 series that is characterised by its high-quality sound, durable design and attractive price.

X1 D: drum microphone

A sound pressure of 170 dB can be withstood by the X1 D and it has a cardioid pickup pattern. This way, the signal won´t distort and it is highly directional to suppress crosstalk. These are demands that are essential for a high-quality drum recording. For extremely loud signals, you can attenuate the outgoing signal via the -10dB pad switch of the X1 D.

More than just a drum microphone

Even though the SE Electronics X1 D is designed as a kick and percussion mic, you can use it for other percussive instruments. The microphone is well suited for vocals as well, for instance. Thanks to the quick response of the Titanium diaphragm, plosives like Ps and Ts are also well registered.
