Back in the day, musicians and engineers were forced to get creative with the limited resources that they had, and they certainly made the most of it. Armed with nothing more than a tape deck, they were able to create effects like overdrive, flange and echo and all of it was backed up by the warmth and character of analogue - a quality that more clinical digital recording simply can't compete with. By saturating the input signal, for instance, you can create a natural drive/distortion; you can set up and tweak a tape delay, varying from a short slapback to a gloriously old-school analogue tape delay that darkens and slowly decays with each repetition. Back in the day, engineers conjured a flange or chorus effect by manipulating the tape manually, here you can simply tweak the aptly named Wobble pot.
