Fender MA-1 3/4 Steel, chitarra western

I've been playing guitar on and off for 25 years and owned so many electrics and acoustics over that time. My wife wanted an acoustic but didn't want a full size one, so we opted for a 3/4 size. After searching about, we came across this Fender MA-1 and BAX had it much, much cheaper than the other shops which obviously, set off some alarm bells. We decided to bite the bullet, and I am so glad we did. The guitar arrived on the day we chose (we could have had it sooner, but opted to have it delivered on a certain day). Tracking info was given for it's journey from The Netherlands to the UK and when it came, it was extremely well packed. Out of the box, the guitar was tuned about a whole step down, which is normal - strings need bedding in, but it sounds really, really nice. The build quality is great too. I can honestly say it sounds better than my old Yamaha APX9C that I had, which was 4x more expensive. The photos here doesn't do it justice - it is a bit darker than the pictures. She'll love the guitar (and she does already).

Fantastic little guitar played straight out the box, well made, lovely sound, brought for my sons 8th birthday and it's perfect, my only criticism is the gig bag is very thin and offers little more than dust protection not really suited to taking the guitar into school for lessons so we had to buy a padded bag which will hopefully have the guitar last him for many years

Je viens juste de la recevoir, très belle finition, cette 3/4 de chez Fender est vraiment très belle... rapport qualité-prix imbattable, le son est clair et bien défini, parfaite pour un enfant qui veut commencer la guitare sur un instrument de qualité. Avec en plus une très jolie housse Fender, le délai de livraison respecté juste avant noêl, le colis a été bien empaqueté pour être bien protégé, bref... je suis ravi!

Mijn dochter van 12 kan mooi zingen en wil zichzelf ook kunnen begeleiden op de gitaar. Inmiddels speelt ze al aardig wat akkoorden. Ze pakte echter altijd mijn oude dreadnought gitaar, maar die was veel te groot voor haar. Ook nogal een ding om mee te nemen. Even overwoog ik de Ed Sheeran signature Little Martin voor haar aan te schaffen, maar die is nog redelijk prijzig. Toch met Ed Sheeran in het achterafhoofd ging ik op zoek naar een 3/4 travel gitaar en vond deze Fender MA-1. Helemaal goed. Veel beter te hanteren voor een meisje van 12 en makkelijk mee te nemen. Heel mooi gebouwd en een hele acceptabele sound. Goed afgesteld. Speelt makkelijk en licht. Absoluut waar voor zijn geld. Niets staat haar een verdere carrière als singer/songwriter nog in de weg!

Toen ik deze gitaar voor het eerst zag, had ik echter wel mijn twijfels, met name op de bespeelbaarheid. Maar toen ik de gitaar eenmaal in mijn handen had en erop speelde, voelde ik mij er meteen in thuis.

De zelfde dynamiek en warmte als bij een fullsize gitaar. Een bescheiden gitaar, zonder overdreven opsmuk.

Het formaat maakt dat hij mee te nemen is in het vliegtuig, deze schuif je zonder gedoe tussen de handbaggage. Dus geen extra seats die ervoor betaalt moeten worden.

De 3/4 doet voor mij niet onder aan een volformaat. Bij het voelen van de ruwe finish, het ruiken van het hout, de touch van de hals met het bespelen en geluid, maken het geheel mijn ding. Gitaristen die doorgaans gewend zijn om op een "auditorium" model te spelen, zullen met deze gitaar geen verwachtingsproblemen hebben.

Prijs en goeie kwaliteit, die betaalbaar is, wat je van de akoestische gitaren van Fender mag verwachten. Ik zou zeggen: koop hem nu!
