The Gibson Modern Collection Les Paul Studio simply embodies everything that a genuine American LP should. The Ultra-Modern weight relief treatment of the mahogany body is a considerate and comfortable tweak and has been finished off by a vaulted maple top, while the mahogany neck has been bound to the body via a set-neck construction to support the already unrivalled sustain and matching resonance. The butter-smooth feel of the Slim Taper neck profile combined with the rosewood fretboard and 22 medium jumbo frets take care of that comfy, compulsive playing feel, and this new-breed Les Paul Studio comes complete with a softshell case and a Gibson Accessory Kit.
The Modern Collection Les Paul Studio: Wide Sonic Range
Gibson have reliably equipped the Studio with the solid team of a 490R and 498T humbucker to guarantee a potent and tight foundation and a hefty chunk of output. While this set-up naturally lends itself to heavier guitar work, this unarguable beauty of an electric guitar also comes with a softer side. Both volume pots can be popped out, to coil-tap and calm down the output of both pickups. This fresh-faced rendition of the LP Studio cracks open a highly flexible sonic range and comes fully backed up by the tried-and-tested stability of an aluminium Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar.

Een Les Paul waar qua klank niet op is bezuinigd, het ontbreken van de bindings drukt de prijs iets waardoor deze USA Gibson nog betaalbaar blijft. Wordt geleverd in een prachtige leren gigbag.
Deze gitaar speelt erg soepel, is ‘fabriek af’ goed afgesteld. Op de afwerking is niks aan te merken.
De coil split push pull functie hadden ze wat mij betreft ook op kunnen bezuinigen, deze klinkt toch het beste met 2 humbuckers.

Er zit een bizar lekkere sustain in deze gitaar. Die biedt veel mogelijkheden om een goeie sound te creëren. Waar ik ook heel blij mee ben is de toonvastheid. Een bend van 3-4 frets is geen enkel probleem, zowel qua inspanning als snaarspanning.
Het enige kritiekpunt dat ik kan bedenken is dat er geen handleiding meegeleverd wordt voor de schakeling. Je mag zelf uitzoeken hoe de switch en de push/pull knobs samenwerken. Maar misschien is dat ook juist wel erg leuk om zelf uit te vogelen :)

Bought as B stock. Only signs of previous use are the removal of the sticky film on pickups and scratch plate. Otherwise perfect. Guitar is great - excellent rich tone, great finish, neck is very easy to get around. Could not be happier - best UK price and very fast delivery.

Mijn eerste Gibson, na jaren aarzelen vanwege de prijs. Had ik dus jaren eerder moeten doen. Thuis meteen uitgebreid getest, met koptelefoon. Gisteravond voor het eerst bij een bandrepetitie gebruikt. Geen effecten, plug and play. Alsof het licht aan ging! Prima sound, geweldig speelgemak. Kan een versnelling hoger spelen met die typische Gibson growl.

In mijn jeugd in bandjes gespeeld en altijd al verlekkerd naar gekeken: Een echte Gibson Les Paul! Toen kon ik hem niet betalen en na aanmodderen is de muzikale carrière er nooit van gekomen. En nu, ruim 35 jaar later is het er dan toch van gekomen en wat een extase om de doos open te maken. Een prachtige soft shell case komt tevoorschijn en als je die openmaakt dan onthult zich dit prachtige stuk muziekhistorie! Een handgeschreven checklijst, een foto van het apparaat en verdere papieren zitten bijgesloten.
Daarna snel de nieuwe aanwinst aangesloten op de Marshall versterker en wat een geluid! Het speelt heerlijk. Na jaren aanmodderen op een Fender Squier ben ik helemaal blij! Kortom: een absolute aanrader!
