Yamaha proves that starting out on a quality drum kit is far from impossible with the Manu Katche Junior Drum Kit in Deep Violet. This kit was developed in collaboration with French drummer Manu Katché, who has proven his worth playing with the likes of Peter Gabriel and Sting, for instance, and knows what a good kit should sound like. Its shells are made of 6 plies of birch, giving the set a beautifully bright sound that allows every strike to come across clearly in recordings. This particular model comes in a gorgeous Deep Violet lacquer and features chrome-plated hardware.

Yamaha Manu Katché Junior Kit: compact size

Especially for young drummers, this drum set consists of fairly small shells. For starters, it has a 16 x 15" bass drum, with 10 x 7" and 12 x 7" toms mounted on top. Then there is a 13 x 12-inch floor tom and a 12 x 5-inch snare drum to complete the picture. The result is a fairly low and compact setup; however, you can raise the kit up to accommodate taller players (or growing drummers) using the included bass drum riser and the long spurs and floor tom legs. Of course, this raises the toms up as well, but you can further fine-tune their position using the tom holder.

Stands included

The stands that come with this particular drum kit also take its compact shell sizes into account. Both the snare drum stand and the hi-hat stand can be set extra low. Furthermore, the two included cymbal stands are telescopic, so you'll always be able to set them to the perfect hight. Finally, you can attach the bass drum pedal directly to the bass drum when it's on the floor, or clamp it to the riser.
