This Mapex shell set has a 1-up, 1-down configuration which keeps the toms well within range, and the 24-inch bass drum guarantees plenty of power and a natural tone. This kit is part of the Mars series, which has a number of top-quality components from the Saturn IV series of drum sets. Result: professional performance. This four-piece 446 Rock shell set consists of a 24-inch bass drum, a 12-inch tom, a 16-inch floor tom and a Matching 14 x 6.5-inch snare drum.

The Mapex Mars MA446S-RW Rock 24 Shell Set: Birch Shells

The shells of this Bloodwood shell set are made of six plies of birch. Birch is a strong wood type that allows for a perfectly focused sound and great projection. The 10 and 12-inch toms have a clear, punchy sound, while the 24-inch bass drum and 14-inch floor tom deliver a focused low end, with a great punch and plenty of body. The bass drum is fitted with isolating claw hooks with a rubber lining. This lining protects the bass drum hoops from being damaged, and ensures that the hardware does not start rattling as you play. The 12 x 8-inch tom can be attached to a cymbal stand with the included tom arm and clamp.

Matching 14 x 6.5-inch Bloodwood Snare

This powerful shell set comes with a matching 14 x 6.5-inch Bloodwood snare. This snare drum has a versatile character and delivers a solid, distinct sound. The bearing edges of the shells in the Mars series are called SONIClear bearing edges. These allow the drumhead to make better contact with the shell, resulting in a more consistent tuning, an enhanced tuning range and a deeper sound.
