Gretsch Drums’ Renown Maple 2014 series offers an updated old classic - the familiar sound has been enhanced with new materials. The RN1-J483-VP is three-piece shell set that is suitable for jazz music in particular thanks to the sizes of its shells: an 18 x 14-inch bass drum, a 12 x 8-inch tom and a 14 x 14-inch floor tom. The Vintage Pearl finish of the shells is once again found on the hoops of the bass drum - a nice little detail.

A warm and full tone

The shells of the Renown Maple series are made of maple, a wood type that produces a full sound across the entire tonal range, with a particularly warm low end. Renown shells consist of six plies of North American maple that have been finished with an interior Silver Sealer. The 30-degree bearing edges increase contact between the shells and the included Remo drumheads, making them work together to attain an sublime tone.

Modern features

The RN1-J483-VP shell set is equipped with a modern tom mounting system. Instead of mounting it on the bass drum, the tom is attached to a stand by means of the included tom clamp. The shell is mounted using the special Gretsch Tom Suspension (GTS), which suspends it from four different points, ensuring it can resonate freely. The telescopic bass drum legs, the floor tom legs and the tom holder are equipped with special T-shaped screws, and classic logos provide a stylish final touch.
