Drum kits from the Renown Maple series definitely deliver that specific tone drummers occasionally refer to as the original Gretsch sound. This three-piece RN1-J483-SW Renown Maple 2014 shell set consists of an 18-inch bass drum, a 12-inch tom and a 14-inch floor tom - a configuration perfect for lighter music styles. Both the shells and the wooden bass drum hoops have been finished in stylish Satin White.

RN1-J483-SW: maple

The shells of the Renown Maple series are made of six plies of North American maple that have been securely glued together. Maple produces a full tone that sounds particularly warm in the low end of the spectrum. The Remo drumheads that come with the kit are tightened over 30-degree bearing edges, creating maximum contact between shell and drumhead to create that typical Gretsch sound.

T-screws

Special T-shaped screws that are attached to the telescopic legs of the bass drum, the legs of the floor tom and the tom mount, lend a distinctive touch to this Renown Maple shell set. The tom is mounted by means of the Gretsch Tom Suspension system, which minimises shell contact so the tom can resonate to its full potential. As the shell set comes with a stand-alone bass drum, the tom has to be suspended from a separate stand. To that end, a clamp with a ball joint has been included, which enables you to flexibly adjust the angle of the drum.
