The redesigned drum kits from Gretsch’s Renown series have been available for a while, but now also come with a dark Satin Walnut finish with a white pearl inlay. This new colour really suits the classic look of the Gretsch series, as is evident from this four-piece shell set, which consists of a 22-inch bass drum, 10 and 12-inch toms and a 16-inch floor tom.

Gretsch Renown: maple

The Gretsch Renown drum kits combine modern technology with an authentic sound. The shells are made of two different types of maple, one a little softer than the other, and consist of a total of six plies to ensure a full sound with a warm low end. The interior of the shells is finished with a Silver Sealer lacquer that improves their acoustic properties. The 30-degree bearing edges, meanwhile, enhance contact between shell and drumhead, resulting in a full tone.

Modern hardware

The hardware of this Gretsch drum kit has a modern design too. The tom holders are light of weight and have a contemporary look. The die-cast hoops lack any weak spots and keep the included high-grade Remo drumheads consistently tightened. Classic details like the lugs and badges on the shells lend a characteristic touch to the Renown Maple 2014 shell set.
