Gretsch's Broadkaster drum kits were immensely popular in the 1950s and have remained a legendary classic ever since. This modern take on the classic drum kit still has the same authentic looks. The Vintage Build Classic Bomber shell set has an Anniversary Sparkle finish and consists of a 24 x 14-inch bass drum, a 13 x 9-inch tom and a 16 x 16-inch floor tom. Rock drummers, look no further - you've found the ultimate bomber!
Broadkaster Vintage Build Classic Bomber: hybrid shells
The Broadkaster Classic Bomber does not only score high with its great looks, its sound is quite convincing too. Thanks to its hybrid character (the shells are made of two plies of maple with a ply of poplar in between) the three-piece set produces a warm, full sound with a clearly pronounced low end. The vintage inspiration is clearly evident in both the finish and the hardware of the shells. The bass drum, for instance, is fitted with a rail Consolette that enables you to quickly and easily place the 13-inch tom at the right playing position. The tom itself is equipped with a rugged plate mount with a clamp. Further inspection of the floor tom reveals a G4823V vintage diamond clamp and 9.5mm-thick floor tom legs, which are slightly thinner than those of the Standard Build models, but certainly no less stable. The bass drum is kept securely in place by its USA G4966 vintage bass drum legs.
Hoops and bearing edges
The 6-ply Satin Classic Maple hoops of the bass drum feature an Anniversary Sparkle inlay that adds a nice finishing touch to the overall great looks of the kit. The bass drum claw hooks are fitted with vintage T-rod tension rods - another nod to the days of old. The double-flanged hoops of the toms have been modelled after classic hoops, but are made from a more rugged type of steel. The shells have reverse roundover bearing edges, which means their inside edges sit higher and round off down towards the exterior edges, increasing the surface contact between shell and drumhead, resulting in a full, warm, authentic Gretsch sound.
The classic characteristics of the BK-R443V-ASP shell set are combined with modern technology: all shells are equipped with internal mufflers. The bass drum's muffler is located on the resonant side of the shell.
