The Meinl TIM1428AB-M Timbau is a beautiful dark brown drum measuring 28 inches in length. The Timbau (or timbal) is a drum mainly used in Latin American types of music, such as samba and sambareggae. The sturdy shell of this drum is made of poplar wood and is therefore not heavy. This is convenient as a timbau is usually used in larger walking groups. A metal carrying hook is also provided for this purpose so that the timbau can be worn on a belt.
TIM1428AB-M: choice of material
The 14-inch sheet of this timbau is made of easily stringed synthetic material. Using the included tuning spanner, the tensioning bolts are easy to tighten or loosen. The edges and tensioning brackets of this instrument are chrome-plated to give a moisture-resistant coating. The tensioning edges are rounded so that you can play through the entire samba procession without hand complaints. This fine samba drum features a dark brown matt finish.
