The black-finished, steel shell of the Meinl-made MDST10BK snare-timbale has a 10-inch diameter and comes fitted with a synthetic batter head and four lugs to ensure a fierce attack that's packed out by a mass of high overtones and a satisfying, fat sound. The Meinl logo has been cleverly printed into the underside of the head, so it'll never wear off, and while the snare strainer looks fairly simple, the system is actually incredible effective - so, in the off position, the wires are prevented entirely from vibrating against the head for a clean strike, and a rubber clamp dampens the mat on one side - something you rarely see fitted to snare-timbales. Designed for percussionists as well as drummers, this is the ideal side-snare for Latin-style or reggae drummers and can be set up either on a standard 10-inch snare stand, or on a percussion clamp with a 3/8-inch rod.
