While some bassists love the simplicity of having an amplifier combo, it does limit your variety of sounds somewhat. The advantage of having an amplifier head, of course, is that you can choose the cabinet you want to go with it. The Taurus T-450 is a versatile bass guitar amplifier head with 450 watts of RMS power at 4 ohms and 300 watts at 8 ohms. There's a handy lockable speaker connector that allows you to connect a speaker cabinet with anything from 1 to 8 speakers! In short, the Taurus T-450 is a bass amp head with plenty of power in a rack-sized format.

Features

The T-450 features two separate inputs on the front for instruments with active or passive pickups, which makes it suitable for pretty much any bass guitar. Another clever addition is the Punch switch that gives you a bit of extra gain so that the dynamics in your playing come through clearly. The MLO (Mid Level Optimization) system is unique to Taurus and keeps the mid frequencies in perfect balance with the low and high tones. As well as that, the volume level remains constant when low frequencies are added, so that only the timbre changes and not the volume.

DBS and safety

Bassists can really benefit from having the frequencies their bass produces strengthened in a focussed manner. Thanks to the Dynamic Bass System on the T-450, extra dynamics are added to the bass sound, so that the lows come through more clearly. The DBS switch has three settings: bass cut, off and bass boost. There are send and return sockets on the back for connecting effects pedals. The T-450 also has a separate output to connect a tuner, which is handy when performing live. Finally, Taurus has ensured that the T-450 is very safe to use, having equipped it with electronically-controlled cooling and protection against short circuits, overheating and overloading.
