To ease the composition process when working with ensembles or larger groups of musicians, Steinberg offer up their best tool to date: Dorico Pro 3.5. This is the freshest notation software and comes packed with the kind of potency that that can't help but provide outstanding results. 'Engraving techniques' produce beautiful notation that not only serves as pretty tasty eye-candy, but in practical terms, provides musicians with clearly legible score. And, since this is a Steinberg conception, the legato, single notes, and articulations are just as beautifully wrought.

What's New with Dorico 3.5?

The new pitch-before-duration function gives you the freedom to simply compose while playing a keyboard - by specifying a duration, the notes will be automatically transcribed into your score. Dorico also supports 'figured bass', also known as Basso Continuo, allowing the creation of Baroque style harmonic notation, where a bass note can be assigned figures representing the chord rather than notating the entire chord, making the notation process a little bit quicker. VST expression maps are also included, so that the very best articulations and expressions can be pulled out the very best virtual instruments. Guitar notation has also been improved, and anyone who wants to play around with the drawn objects can spend many a happy evening using the editor. In any case, you can do a lot of interface tweaking to find your preferred workflow, and another great addition is the ability to return divisional parts to the conductor's score with a single mouse-click! Empty measures are now easily created as well, which is useful at the end of a score, or when scoring for a film to make room for any necessary incidental adjustments when a scene is suddenly lengthened.

Steinberg Dorico Pro 3.5

After many years of using another major scoring software (and hating it all the while), I finally made the switch to Dorico and it is all that I expected and more. They really managed to build a software that is very intuitive to use, very close to using pen and paper, but without sacrificing the control you have over the program as other brands do.
