This method of construction is known as Pearl's Superior Shell Technology. The maple provides a warm, full sound and a projection that effortlessly bridges the gap between the drummer and the audience. With a shell this unique, the hardware needed to be up to par as well, which is why Pearl opted for MasterCast hoops. Because they're die-cast as opposed to welded together, these hoops don't have a weak point, so the tension is evenly distributed. For quick and easy adjustment of the snare wire tension, this snare features a Pearl SR-017 strainer.
