The MixPre-6 II from Sound Devices is an incredibly compact, portable preamp/audio recorder designed for field-recording, sound effects, voice-over, podcasts and soundtracking as well as music in extremely high quality. Record your audio source in a depth of 32-bit float with a sample rate of 192 kHz. This means that the dynamic range is unprecedentedly high and every detail of the source material remains fully intact. The crystal clear Kashmir preamps help with this and enables you to record multiple actors, podcasts or audio clips in superior audio quality. The MixPre-6 II can be set to your own preferences and recordings are made directly to an SD card or transferred immediately via USB connection to your laptop or desktop. The MixPre-6 II receives power via a computer, wall socket or via batteries when you want to work on a mobile phone.

Time-Code Synchronisation and External Control

In addition to complete control over the bit depth, limiter, sample rates, gain, pan and a list of other functions, a connected camera can be triggered with the internal time code generator or fed via the HDMI or Aux input. In this way you're assured of perfect sound and image synchronisation. Of course you have complete control over the parameters, but if you happen to want to simplify things while still maintaining the best possible recording quality, just use the basic mode which makes the already tight and lightweight MixPre-6 II a great travelling companion and tool for found sound recording. The recorder can also be remotely controlled via the available Wingman App ion which the four supported USB controllers can be selected to easily manage your settings. In short, if you are looking for the highest possible audio quality in a compact format with an excellent build, then look no further than the MixPre-6 II.

Magnifique mixette super compacte, il faudra prévoir un petit stylo pour l'écran tactile, très petit lui aussi.

Update: een lichtpuntje... afgelopen week verdween ineens het ‘supported camera’ van de website van de fabrikant. En zowaar: en dag later verscheen er een upgrade (5.00, dag later 5.01) met uitgebreidere camera support - enkele jaren na de introductie van het apparaat. Er is nog niet specifiek aangegeven welke specifieke camera’s nu wel werken, maar de nieuwe handleiding noemt nu onder meer ook de merken Nikon, FUIJIFILM en RED.

Na enig testen kreeg ik timecode met de Nikon Z7 aan de praat, maar alleen bij lage resoluties of frame rates (!!) (*) Met een Nikon D500 of D800E kreeg ik het niet aan de praat. Devies: toch even eerst testen voordat je dit apparaat koopt.

*: in theorie zou het ook kunnen dat de door mij gebruikte micro-HDMI naar mini-HDMI kabel niet goed werkt bij de hoge datarates bij 4K beeldtransmissie. Dit type kabel is echter nagenoeg nergens te krijgen en de enige die ik vond (en kocht) was wel duur naar had geen specificaties. Als iemand nog deze kabels weet te vinden, hou ik me aanbevolen!!! (En het zou sowieso goed zijn als fabrikanten deze toch al problematische micro-HDMI adapter zoveel mogelijk zouden mijden...)

Sound Devices MixPre-6 II Audio Recorder-Mixer

De MixPre 3 (II), 6 (II) en 10T (10II) zijn hele, hele mooie apparaten. Het belangrijkste verschil met de goedkopere modellen Mixpre 3M, 6M en 10M is dat ze een HDMI ingang hebben en daarmee een timecode koppeling aan een videocamera of fotocamera (via HDMI) ondersteund.

Maar LET OP: de timecode synchronisatie en de start/stop via de camera werkt slechts op een heel beperkt aantal modellen camera's! Zo worden onder meer Nikon camera's in het geheel niet ondersteund. Kijk eerst even op https://www.sounddevices.com/supported-cameras/ of de camera die je hebt wel werkt...
