The prized VOX AC30 and AC15 amplifiers both had one small disadvantage: they were rather ill suited for home use or more intimate performances because they produced such high volume. Now you have the option of decreasing the power of the AC4, so you can enjoy the popular VOX sound, with its sparkling trebles and creamy overdrive, in even the smallest of settings. This is the limited-edition AC4C1-RD, which features a stylish Tolex covering with golden accents and the classic diamond-patterned speaker grille cover.

Sound

The sound is exactly what you would expect from VOX. That is, the AC4C1-RD delivers a warm, lively, dynamic sound that any guitarist would love. The amp features a simple control panel consisting of gain, bass, treble and master volume controls so you can adjust everything in detail. Furthermore, the 10-inch Celestion speaker is powered by two 12AX7 preamp tubes and one EL84 power amp tube, which work together to deliver enough volume for home use, and if that's not enough you can always connect an extra external speaker.

Small size, big performance

Class A EL84 tube amps are going to sound better because the tubes have to work harder. Unfortunately, that beautiful tube sound comes with loud volumes, which makes heavier class-A amps less suited for home use. That, of course, brings us to the big advantage of 4W tube combos like this one! With the AC4C1-AC you can enjoy an acceptable volume that still delivers the creamy overdrive that VOX amps are famous for.
