Only 250 pieces of this Limited Edition Gretsch G5420T FSR Silver Sparkle model have been made available throughout Europe, but at Bax-shop we have managed to get our hands on three of them! This semi-acoustic guitar from Gretsch's affordable Electromatic series has a vintage look and a top with a stunning Silver Sparkle finish. The back of the hollow-body guitar has been treated with an attractive transparent mahogany red lacquer that leaves the gorgeous grain of the wood clearly visible and provides a nice contrast with the dazzling top. Cream-coloured bindings complete the classic look of this Gretsch G5420T FSR Silver Sparkle.

Gretsch G5420T FSR Silver Sparkle: a hollow-body construction

The hollow body of this semi-acoustic guitar is nearly identical to that of an acoustic guitar - a construction that is often referred to as a hollow-body electric guitar. Made of 5-ply laminated maple, the body of the G5420T is fitted with a set maple neck and a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. The combination of wood types and the construction of the guitar combine to create a tight, feisty and open sound that is suitable for a wide range of music styles, from jazz and rockabilly to blues and rock.

Pickups and hardware

The Gretsch G5420T FSR Silver Sparkle is equipped with two Black Top Filter'Tron humbucker pickups that ensure a full-bodied, punchy tone with rich and twangy trebles. The guitar's Adjusto-Matic bridge has a rosewood base that is secured to the body of the guitar by means of two pins, preventing it from shifting and ensuring optimal intonation. A Bigsby-licensed B60 tailpiece provides the icing on the cake by delivering subtle, sultry vibrato effects.
