Part of the acclaimed SL4000E console and the secret weapon of producers the world over, the classic SSL Listen Mic Compressor now comes in a tight and convenient 500 module format. Initially developed to prevent the comms channel between the studio and control room from getting overloaded, engineers quickly discovered that the fixed attack and release of the compressor were endlessly useful for treating the ambient and room microphones used to record drums while parallel processing.

The Old Meets the New in a Single Module

Among other things, the 500 module edition of the LMC+ includes a pair of classic high and low pass filters for accurately pinpointing specific frequencies; a filter to compressor side-chain option; and a wet/dry mix control pot. Next to that, you'll find two brand new tools: a Scoop switch for reversing the phase of the treated signal, and a Split switch that activates a bandpass subtraction mode. Both functions can be triggered independently or used in tandem, and in combination with the filters and side-chain, presents a distinctively fresh set of possibilities.
