The four double strings of the M50 E

The eight strings that stretch over the classic pear-shaped A5 body of the M50E are responsible for that unmistakable mandolin sound. To be precise, the strings are arranged in four duos, and the two strings in each pair have the same tuning (G-D-A-E). Such an arrangement makes it easy to get a tremolo effect when you strum back and forth over a group of strings with a pick, which gives you a more or less endlessly resonant tone.
