With the Discrete 8 Synergy Core USB and Thunderbolt audio interface, Antelope Audio take a giant, staggering leap into the future. This interface is loaded with two DSP chips and an FPGA processor for onboard effects-processing that literally fuse together to form the Synergy Core of this device. By getting a Discrete 8, you get direct access to 36 much-sought-after FPGA effects including vintage EQs, compressors, preamps and guitar modelling, none of which will drain any of the processing power of your computer since every bit of processing is done by the Discrete 8 itself.
Impressive Connection and Expansion Potential
While the Discrete 8 already offers impressive connectivity as standard, it can be expanded even further with ADAT inputs and outputs with a maximum 26 inputs and no less than 30 outputs! This flexible number of connection options make for a future proof interface, giving you the ease to smoothly adapt to ever-changing recording conditions. Two re-amp outputs can easily send your D.I. signal back through your favourite tube amplifier and re-record the signal in your DAW, giving guitarists and engineers maximum flexibility. With a dynamic range of 130dB and 24-bit/192kHz recording, jaw-dropping detail and wide, vivid stereo imaging - the conversion of the Discrete 8 is as yet unrivalled, and this is only backed-up by a set of sublime pre-amps able to deliver a pure, uncoloured signal. By adding the Discrete 8 Synergy Core preamp interface to its ranks, Antelope Audio only underline their ever potent authority.

cette carte est un échec et l'AFX2DAW encore plus. Et si vous ne me croyez pas, allez donc faire un tour sur le forum FB francophone d'antelope.

Geluidskwaliteit is top! Ook heel fijn dat ik eindelijk intern kan routen en dus vanuit m’n computer kan uitsturen en kan opnemen, zonder kabels te trekken.
Enige nadeel vind ik dat het apparaat volledig op software draait en niet zonder te gebruiken is. Vandaar de 4 sterren.

The interface is easy to integrate into the DAW and the effects can also be easily run via AFX2DAW software.
There were some problems registering the device, but Antelope's service was very good. This was quickly remedied!
I'm already looking at expanding the Discrete!

Het belangrijkste punt: de preamps zijn geweldig. Een duidelijk verschil met mijn oude (Tascam) interface.
Werkt goed met diverse microfoons voor zang en acoustische gitaar, maar ook direct via de Hi-Z input voor amp sims. Ik heb mijn Kemper aangesloten met s/pdif en mijn Axe FX via de Line in op de achterzijde van de interface, Op mijn oude interface zat er een frequentie in die er moeilijk uit te mixen was op het moment dat ik mijn gitaar met EMG's gebruikte. Nu klinkt het zelfs met die gitaar prima.
Groot pluspunt is de mogelijkheid om de 2 headphone outputs en de monitor outputs elk afzonderlijk aan en uit te zetten met 1 druk op een knop. Alle knoppen zijn trouwens van metaal en van goede kwaliteit.
De software heeft veel mogelijkheden, maar is soms een beetje omslachtig.
Het is mogelijk om geluid van een externe bron (Youtube etc.) op te nemen in je DAW.
Je kan ook het geluid van een spoor in je DAW naar de interface sturen, en via een ander spoor weer opnemen in je DAW, terwijl je de bijgeleverde plugins gebruikt op de interface.
De plugins zijn van prima kwaliteit, vergelijkbaar met mijn UAD.
UAD heeft een groter aanbod qua plugins, maar de belangrijkste zijn aanwezig op de Antilope.
Diverse voorversterkers zoals de Neve 1073, EQ,s zoals SSL, Pultec en Compressors zoals de Fairchild,1176 etc. kunnen gebruikt worden.
Opnemen met de ingebouwde plugins gaat zonder merkbare latency via USB (ik heb geen Thunderbolt).
Enige minpunt zijn de plugins voor gitaar amps en cabinets (Overloud) , maar dat is een kwestie van smaak.
