The Earthquaker Devices Hizumitas has been specially designed for Japanese guitarist, Wata, known as part of legendary experimental metal band, Boris alongside Atsuo (drums) and Takeshi (guitar/bass). Formed in 1992, the band has released over 20 albums and has worked together with artists including Sunn O))), Merzbow, Keiji Haino and Ian Astbury of The Cult. Boris adopts elements from doom, noise-core, ambient and drone to sculpt a completely unique, awesomely brutal signature sound. Slap the Earthquaker Devices Hizumitas on your pedalboard, and you get to dial in some of that sonic brutality yourself!

The Hizumitas: Authentic Sound

The Hizumitas is a faithful recreation of Wata's go-to distortion, the Elk BM Sustainar. Faithful indeed, since Wata shipped her own effect pedal to the team at Earthquaker Devices where they discovered what truly sets it apart from other distortion stompboxes: lots of saturation, deep basses and serious grit alongside the retention of ample bright-sounding mids and lush trebles. Punching through a dense mix is no biggie with the Hizumitas and, just like the OG stompbox, it's so brilliantly aggressive it almost sounds like your speakers are getting ripped apart. Intuitive Control Lay-Out

EQD have blessed the Hizumitas with an intuitive lay-out consisting of a Sustain, Tone and Volume pot. Here, Sustains opens up a wide saturation range, impacting the overall tone, maximising the dynamics in your play and getting the effect to work well in combination with every possible pickup. Tone changes the character of the distortion and can be turned to the left to boost the trebles or turned the other way to boost the bass. Needless to say, the Volume control is used to dial a gigantic amount of output gain. Turn it up past the 9 or 10 o'clock setting and you will really hear and feel the true power of the Hizumitas!

Magnifique dans tous les sens du terme ! Esthétique travaillée en rapport avec la pédale inspiratrice, son puissant et lourd avec ses réglages qui sculptent redoutablement le grain, le gain et la tonalité… on a le meilleur du fuzz dans cette boîte aluminium ! Merci Earthquaker Devices.
