Apart from guitar-related products, Line 6 is also doing well with their PA and live-sound systems. With their StageSource series, Line 6 offer us a high-quality line of PA speakers that are ideal for very compact or very elaborate setups. You can scale the system up very easily, just add as many satellites or subwoofers as you deem fit. What's more, Line 6 fitted the StageSource series with L6 LINK and clever sensors that help the speaker set itself up for you. The L3M active speaker can be used as a full-range speaker or as a satellite in combination with an L3S subwoofer.

A closer look at the L3M

The L3M is a very powerful active speaker, powered by a 1,400W Tri-Amp amplifier module. This 3-way amp module drives two 10-inch woofers and a 1-inch tweeter for a great overall sound. Its maximum sound pressure level of 132 dB is more than enough to impress. Moreover, this speaker is equipped with a sensor-controlled DSP processor that ensures the best sound for any room or venue. As you understand, amplifying an acoustic or electric guitar requires different settings than a PA setup - simply select your application on the rear and the DSP processor will adjust the sound accordingly.

Internal sensors of the active speaker

We've mentioned the internal sensors of this loudspeaker before - because they are a very exceptional feature. These built-in sensors detect whether the speaker is upright or placed sideways on the floor and automatically adjust its settings accordingly. When placed on its side, the speaker goes into monitor mode, reducing bass to compensate for the acoustic properties of the floor. The speaker mode is changed for you, leaving you free to concentrate on your performance. Moreover, the L3M has a stand-adapter sensor that detects whether it's placed on a stand, setting the DSP to default. If you tilt it and use it as a backline speaker, the DSP will apply a virtual tilt back - a speaker setting that projects the sound waves up to the ear of the performing artists.

Mooi transparant geluid, kan zeer luid zonder oversturing. Ze zien er ook nog eens stijlvol uit waardoor ze niet teveel opvallen. Ze zijn zwaar en stevig, dat ook!

Even de situatie waar deze luidsprekers nu staan: 2 l3m's in een grote ronde kerkzaal. Wat mij het meeste opvalt in deze ruimte is de goede spreiding van het geluid. Je merkt echt dat het 100 graden spreid. Het was even testen of we zonder sub afkonden en in dit geval was er ruim voldoende laag aanwezig om dit achterwege te laten. Het gaat hier om afspelen van filmpjes, achtergrond muziek en een (praise)band (versterkte basgitaar, versterkte gitaar, piano, drumstel en 3x zang).

Als we toe zijn aan nieuwe monitors, dan wordt het ook een luidspreker uit deze lijn.
