With the XW-PD1 Trackformer Groove Center, Casio has issued a one-of-a-kind groove machine. Its appearance is quite spacey - if you know your space operas, it might put you in mind of a certain spacecraft. Looks aren't everything, however, so this Casio groovebox also packs the necessary functions and features to become a cult classic. In essence, it combines the characteristics of a synthesizer, a sequencer, a sampler and an effects unit, offering a real all-in-one production package. The letters XW refer to the XW-P1 performance synthesizer, an earlier Casio release that the XW-PD1 is closely related to.

Possibilities of the Casio XW-PD1 Trackformer Groove Center

The Trackformer wasn't developed for Vivaldi aficionados, that much is evident - this groovebox's sounds are perfect for creating dance music. At the centre of the XW-PD1, you'll find sixteen backlit pads surrounded by a ring of sixteen backlit buttons, which represent the steps of a traditional step sequencer. The sixteen pads at the centre can be used to create your own grooves. Throw in a bass line and a melody and you almost have a full-fledged track! All you have to do now is add some finishing touches with the Trackformer's effects.

Mobile applications

With the XW-PD1, Casio caters to the need for mobile devices - you can take this groovebox with you wherever you go. The Trackformer comes with built-in speakers and also has a headphone connector. Six AA batteries keep the XW-PD1 powered for up to five hours, but if you're working at home you can also use the included power adapter. If you connect your smartphone to the Trackformer, you can play back music and apply the Casio groovebox's effects to your favourite tracks.
