With the Sälen Classic 6 Tremolo headless solid-body, .strandberg* presents a progressive, fully future-proofed take on an icon of an electric guitar. The shape of the control plate might hint at a fifties classic, but this model is anything but a throwback. The fanned fret layout is a big giveaway, where the scale length is a slightly longer 25.5 inches at the low E-string than the 25 inches at the high E-string; a setup that doesn't just support a tight feel across the bass strings and a balanced, flexible feel across the treble strings, but ultimately solves the intonation problems that come with the standard fret layout.

The Strandberg Sälen Classic 6 Tremolo: Comfort & Ergonomics

While it does echo guitars of old, the Sälen Classic 6 has been redesigned from the ground up to ensure an unrivalled level of playing comfort, from the specially formed arm and torso carve of the solid okoume body to the contoured neck join, which is fully rounded off and free of a neck plate. The carbon-fibre reinforced, quarter-sawn maple EndurNeck has also been given an exclusively developed profile which has an immediately ergonomic feel. Combine all of that with the set of twenty-four ultra-durable stainless-steel Jescar frets and you're looking at a snug, stable and super-serious model.

Flexible Sound & Tasteful Vibrato

The solid okoume body, four-bolt neck and stunning birdseye maple fretboard lay down an acoustic core that's packed with resonant warmth and just the right amount of punch. This foundation has then been loaded out with a pair of specially designed .strandberg* Custom OEM humbuckers, a custom-wired five-way selector switch and a volume and tone control pot. Basically, this guitar has been set up to span the full spectrum, so it can be dialled in to support everything from metal to jazz and from straight-up pop to classic rock and, in response to popular demand, the Sälen Classic 6 has been polished off with an EGS Pro Rev 7 tremolo bridge, giving the expressive potential of this six-string a solid boost. As well as an adjustment key set, this flawless .strandberg* offering comes with a form-fitting gig bag.

Strandberg Sälen Classic 6 Tremolo Black Multiscale Electric Guitar with Gig Bag

There is no way on Earth I should enjoy this guitar. Ive had headless guitars - don't like 'em. Not a huge Tele fan and this is based on a Tele. I like fat round necks and this has a weird contour. I play with my thumb over the top for barre chords and as an anchor in solos and this is a fingers behind the neck guitar if I ever saw one. So Why 5-stars?
This is the lightest comfiest most versatile guitar I've ever had. It plays beautifully out of the box. I can play with my thumb over the top and its still comfortable. It rings like a bell. Tuning is rock solid - even when using the tremolo. Cherry on the top? THE STRAP BUTTON IS ON THE EDGE OF THE UPPER BOUT NOT STUCK ON THE BACK. (Why do Gibson put their ES335 buttons on the back - its a stupid ill-balanced place to anchor a strap and makes the guitar lean out).
I have had top-of-the-line Gibsons and Fenders and none of them are such a joy to play as this weird odd-ball. I am definitely 100% not Strandbergs target consumer and my playing style (Traditional Rock and Blues) is not at all where their player roster is at - but this is my favourite guitar ever. I don't like their Bodens because the button's at the back but I would buy another Strandberg Salen Trem in a heartbeat. Ola you're a genius!
