The Sonor Vintage Series Three20 shell set brings that classic '50s - '70s sound into the 21st century! This 3-piece shell set consists of a 20 x 14" bass drum, a 12 x 8" tom and a 14 x 12" floor tom in Vintage Onyx.
Sonor Vintage Series: re-issue of the classic Teardrop kits
To celebrate their 140th anniversary, Sonor released a new line of drums that can be viewed as a reissue of the classic Teardrop series. With the new Vintage series, the characteristics sound and look of the classic '50s and '60s Teardrop kits is brought into the 21st century! In the '60s, drummers like Connie Kay, Kenny 'Klook' Clarke and Sonny Payne were big fans of the Sonor Teardrop kits. As they were such high-quality kits, made exclusively from the best materials, they are still highly sought-after by vintage drum collectors. The new Vintage series gives you the option to choose between two different configurations, both available in three finishes, as well as twelve separately available components.
Vintage Series: material and design
Just like the original drums they are modelled after, the Vintage series drums are made of high-quality beech from Germany. 9 plies of beech are used to create a 6mm-thick shell with rounded bearing edges. The shells are then fitted with chrome hardware that complements the available finishes nicely. Sonor has also paid great attention to detail by faithfully reproducing the classic tension rods and hoops. With the exception of a few modern upgrades, the look and feel has essentially remained unchanged. To round it all off, the shells are even adorned with the logo Sonor used between 1952 and 1961. These kits are available in three different finishes: Vintage Onyx, Vintage Natural and Vintage Pearl.
