This 5-piece Mapex Fusion shell set offers sleek, fast tuning and a solid, flexible foundation for a customisable kit at an attainable price and, since it includes a 14x 5.5-inch Tomahawk snare, you really are getting more for your hard-earned cash than you would with most shell-sets. Also, every shell comes supported by a SONIClear tension hoop that ensures improved contact between the skin and shell, making tuning that little bit easier, especially when tuning to a lower pitch.
The Mapex Armory Fusion in Black Dawn
The Mapex Armory Fusion line-up is as follows: a 20x16-inch bass drum, 10x 8-inch and 12x 9-inch hanging toms, a 14x 14-inch floor-tom and a set of floor-tom legs as well as the snare. Each shell has been shaped using six layers of birch and maple amounting to 7.2mm thick walls while the fitted shell hardware is chrome plated and a pair of TH800 SONIClear tom holders have been generously thrown in. These holders are easily installed onto a cymbal stand and, due to the smart SONIClear system, allow the toms to hang and resonate freely for a fuller sound. Finally, this particular example of the Mapex Armory Fusion comes wrapped in a Black Dawn finish.
