This 5-string bass is modelled after the internationally renowned bassist Ken Taylor's signature guitar, one of Sandberg's most popular instruments. The Basic Ken Taylor 5 is a five-string electric bass guitar that is made by hand, yet still quite affordable. Sandberg is a high-end German instrument maker that usually builds custom-ordered bass guitars, offering many different options. This particular specimen is the Sandberg Basic KT5 with a glorious 3-Tone Sunburst finish and a 24-fret rosewood fretboard with no inlays. It comes with a luxury Sandberg gigbag so you can carry it safely and comfortably.

Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5: tonal richness

Underneath the three-tone sunburst lacquer of this bass is a body of solid European ash, a type of wood with a beautiful grain and a full tone with deep lows and clear trebles. Additionally, its 34-inch-scale, Canadian-maple neck is attached to the body with six screws for more stability and better tonal transference. What's more, the omission of position markers makes the neck look exceptionally sleek. The electronic heart of the Sandberg Basic Ken Taylor 5 is a set of two powerful Powerhumbuckers, which can also be used as single coils. Also, there's an active 3-band EQ with bypass option for a wide range of rich bass sounds.

A modern bass guitar

Sandberg fitted their Basic Ken Taylor 5 with several striking modern features, such as a zero fret in place of the string nut, allowing the five open strings to produce the same sound as fretted tones. Particularly practical are the bass guitar's 3-way adjustable bridge saddles, which allow you to accurately tune the bass, determine the action and adjust string spacing. What's more, you can lock these saddles to prevent buzzing and keep your bass' sound tight and direct. As special cherries on top (or the headstock in this instance), the Sandberg Basic KT5 is fitted with durable self-lubricating tuners, which retain tuning marvellously.
