DisplayPort is a digital display interface that can be regarded as the successor to VGA and DVI. The technology was initially geared towards computer monitors and professional IT equipment but is nowadays used mainly in the professional AV industry. DisplayPort technology is often used for video walls, as it allows you to split high-resolution displays. A DisplayPort cable features a 20-pin connector that can be plugged into a device's DisplayPort. This connector is typically fitted in professional equipment.
DisplayPort cables are comparable to HDMI cables but are incompatible with HDMI ports. Though adapters are available, these only work one-way: from DisplayPort to HDMI. Due to differences in technology, this doesn't work the other way around.
